Join Yekseny Guerrero, MA, ATR-P for a calming and creative art therapy workshop. We'll explore the tradition and history of worry dolls in Mexican and Guatemalan culture, and how they're being used today to help express and release anxious thoughts.

In this hands-on session, you'll learn to make your own unique worry dolls using colorful fabrics, yarns, and simple techniques. As we create, we will gently explore the worries we carry and discover healthy ways to process them through mindfulness and reflection.

Calling all Creative Entrepreneurs ages 18-24. We are excited to launch our first cohort for Mentorship 2.0, a 10-week, hybrid program on Thursdays from 6 PM to 8 PM (August 21st to October 23rd). Selected young adults will be paid a $20/hr stipend for their time. Young adults must be able to attend all dates and have earned income from your creative business.

Applications are due by: August 12th. Interviews will be conducts August 14 and 15th.

On June 5th, we are hosting our second annual Black and Brown Solidarity Convening! This event features cultural experiences and art exhibitions planned and submitted by youth that represent identity, history, and social change. You can expect to see various cultural healing practices through music, art, and spoken word performed by youth and community members. We hope to see you there!

VIP: $15 ticket will include an entry fee, food, and a TFD tote bag

Youth are welcome to submit art representing their outlook on cultural experiences within their own identity or that they see in their community. Visit the link below to upload your art! A TFD team member will reach out to let you know of your approval and preferred payment method.

The Firehouse Dream is partnering with Maywood Homeland Security to host CPR training for Proviso community members seeking certification. Please make sure you can attend the full workshop when you RSVP to get certified, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. TFD will provide light snacks.

Yekseny is leading another inspiring workshop for our Proviso community! This session will focus on creating meaningful Memory Bracelets, designed to honor loved ones who have passed or celebrate cherished relationships with those still in our lives. Join us for a heartfelt and memorable experience as we craft bracelets that embody love and remembrance.

Yekseny Guerro is leading an artistic expression workshop for members of  our community here in Proviso! This workshop will focus on self-perception and the power of intuition, aiming to enhance self-esteem and confidence through creative art. Participants will engage in making identity collages, which will help explore feelings and foster a positive self-image. Yekseny is excited to guide our community in discovering their unique identities through the joy of art via a collage. 

Please note that this workshop is intended for teens (13+) through adults.

Yekseny Guerrero is leading Proviso community members through an artistic expression workshop! Recognizing how one may see oneself in their mind. Goals can include trusting intuition and boosting self-esteem/confidence through artistic exploration, reducing feelings of shame, and positive self-esteem Through clay, Yekseny plans on teaching participants how to achieve this through clay expression.

Join our support group for parents and caregivers who have teens and young adults struggling with their mental health. TFD will be facilitating a space for parents and caregivers to not feel alone as they support their teen/young adult. The sessions are completely free for Proviso parents and residents!
