Facilitator Training will be in person, on four days:

November 8th & November 9th, 9:00AM to 5:00PM

Healing Circles are committed to building trust and relationships with other individuals. We invite members of the Proviso community to join our Circle as facilitators! Your involvement is essential in supporting community healing and strengthening bonds within Proviso neighborhoods.

Facilitator training will be on four separate days, as mentioned above. Interested individuals are required to attend each day to become a facilitator. Please see the following links below. There is limited space available, so please make sure to fill out the application promptly.

Your 45-minute session can cover various topics for emergency financial support. The intake form can be accessed below to confirm your time slot and any questions you would like to address during your meeting.

Cookie Decorating at The Firehouse Dream

Join us for a hands on cookie decorating workshop, this will be a winter themed workshop. You will be decorating 3 to 4 plain sugar cookies. Bianca Huerta will have pre decorated cookies to show as demonstrations- she will also be decorating them throughout the workshop for guests to follow along, she supports full creativity, so you can go at your own pace and decorate the cookies as you see fit as well. 

This product was produced in a home kitchen not subject to public health inspection that may also process common food allergens.

NO prior experience necessary!

Spring Mentorship 2.0

Calling all Creative Entrepreneurs ages 18-24. We are excited to launch our second cohort for Mentorship 2.0, a 10-week, hybrid program on Wednesday from 6PM to 8PM (January 7th to March 11th). Selected young adults will be paid a stipend of $40 per session. Young adults must be able to attend all dates and have earned income from your creative business.

Applications are due by: November 19th. Interviews will be conducted the week of December 2nd through the 4th.

Youth Mental Health First-Aid Training

Youth Mental Health First-Aid Training

TFD will be hosting Youth Mental Health First-Aid Training in partnership with Community Outreach at Family Service & Mental Health Center of Cicero for community members. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), designed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among Youth. It is an all-day training, and participants will receive a certificate that is good for three years. Participants will have some pre-work on their own time before the training on MHFA Connect (website). This normally equals 1 to 2 hours of work. Then we would have the training in person on 9/26. At the end of the training, participants will complete some post-work (survey and exam) on MHFA Connect, and once they receive a passing grade, they will receive their certificate.

This training is ideal for:

  • Employers

  • Community workers

  • First responders

  • Teachers

  • Youth Advocates

Join Yekseny Guerrero, MA, ATR-P for a calming and creative art therapy workshop. We'll explore the tradition and history of worry dolls in Mexican and Guatemalan culture, and how they're being used today to help express and release anxious thoughts.

In this hands-on session, you'll learn to make your own unique worry dolls using colorful fabrics, yarns, and simple techniques. As we create, we will gently explore the worries we carry and discover healthy ways to process them through mindfulness and reflection.

2nd Annual Black and Brown Solidarity Convening: Cultural Experiences

On June 5th, we are hosting our second annual Black and Brown Solidarity Convening! This event features cultural experiences and art exhibitions planned and submitted by youth that represent identity, history, and social change. You can expect to see various cultural healing practices through music, art, and spoken word performed by youth and community members. We hope to see you there!

Cost:

VIP: $15 ticket will include an entry fee, food, and a TFD tote bag

General: $5 entry fee
