Let’s share that love with one another by making art that we can share with others. We will be engaging in art therapy to create pocket hugs, decorated felt hearts to share with those around us and a way to practice gratitude. The HAP (Hospice and Palliative) Foundation’s very own Kaitlyn Macias will lead participants through a grief workshop. Community Members will learn the grief cycle and the signs/symptoms of grief. After learning an introduction to grief as an emotional response. Community members will end their education by learning how to cope through a positive art project in creating memory jars.

To practice mental health and art therapy, we will start the new year by setting positive affirmations for ourselves. Join us for a hands on cookie decorating workshop, this will be a winter themed workshop. You will be decorating 3 to 4 plain sugar cookies. Bianca Huerta will have pre decorated cookies to show as demonstrations- she will also be decorating them throughout the workshop for guests to follow along, she supports full creativity, so you can go at your own pace and decorate the cookies as you see fit as well. 

This product was produced in a home kitchen not subject to public health inspection that may also process common food allergens.

Join Yekseny Guerrero, MA, ATR-P for a calming and creative art therapy workshop. We'll explore the tradition and history of worry dolls in Mexican and Guatemalan culture, and how they're being used today to help express and release anxious thoughts.

In this hands-on session, you'll learn to make your own unique worry dolls using colorful fabrics, yarns, and simple techniques. As we create, we will gently explore the worries we carry and discover healthy ways to process them through mindfulness and reflection.

In this hands-on workshop, families will come together to create a beautiful, personalized blanket that symbolizes their unique bond and shared experiences. Maya is one of our Spring 2021 mentees and current Executive Assistant. Before her high school graduation, Maya decided to put her college beliefs aside and make the commitment to go through college debt free. The Firehouse Dream believes in the power of our lived experiences and desires to normalize the topic of mental health. We believe everyone in the community should find self-care in what they enjoy. We hope through this workshop, art becomes one of them!

Dana Harris of I Paint on Purpose motivates and guides participants through meaningful paintings. Dana believes in an approach that gives students positive, constructive ways to learn. Paint on purpose provides participants with the right balance of personalized attention, patience, practical training, and positive encouragement to boost confidence. In this session, we will be painting Cacti to symbolize thriving and endurance in even the direst conditions.
