Yekseny Guerrero is leading Proviso community members through an artistic expression workshop! Come and learn some history about Dolls from Japan, Kokeshi Dolls and engage in art making through art therapy. We will be making our own Kokeshi dolls to create a small symbolic doll that will help us with wishful and positive thinking for mental health. We welcome participants from the community ages 10 and above.

If you are a Proviso community member, come out to our yoga sessions! We’ll begin each session with a brief mindful journaling exercise to help set intentions and prepare the mind for practice. Yoga instructor, Dasia Key, will then lead us through yoga. Dasia is a Proviso resident who has led multiple yoga sessions throughout our community. Please feel free to share with others and bring a friend. Yoga mats will be provided, but you can bring your own.

Spring can also be a reminder of growth, a great way to reflect on things we have accomplished and where we want to continue growing. Come join us for April’s Art Therapy workshop to paint your own terracotta pot and engage in the action of planting while reflecting on areas of growth this year. Reflective Doodling Workshop

Licensed therapist and community member Irmarie Rios will be leading community members through a creative and reflective doodling workshop. This workshop invites participants to slow down, connect with themselves, and explore how simple lines and shapes can support relaxation and emotional expression.

Participants will learn about the benefits of doodling for the mind and nervous system while engaging in a guided creative activity. Through gentle prompts and creative exploration, we will create simple doodles that can serve as a personal reminder of grounding, self-reflection, and wellbeing.

No artistic experience is needed. This workshop is designed to be welcoming, relaxing, and accessible for everyone.

We welcome community members ages 12 and above.

Join us for a hands on cookie decorating workshop, this will be a winter themed workshop. You will be decorating 3 to 4 plain sugar cookies. Bianca Huerta will have pre decorated cookies to show as demonstrations- she will also be decorating them throughout the workshop for guests to follow along, she supports full creativity, so you can go at your own pace and decorate the cookies as you see fit as well. 

This product was produced in a home kitchen not subject to public health inspection that may also process common food allergens.

NO prior experience necessary!

Join Yekseny Guerrero, MA, ATR-P for a calming and creative art therapy workshop. We'll explore the tradition and history of worry dolls in Mexican and Guatemalan culture, and how they're being used today to help express and release anxious thoughts.

In this hands-on session, you'll learn to make your own unique worry dolls using colorful fabrics, yarns, and simple techniques. As we create, we will gently explore the worries we carry and discover healthy ways to process them through mindfulness and reflection.

Dana Harris of I Paint on Purpose motivates and guides participants through meaningful paintings. Dana believes in an approach that gives students positive, constructive ways to learn. Paint on purpose provides participants with the right balance of personalized attention, patience, practical training, and positive encouragement to boost confidence. In this session, we will be painting Cacti to symbolize thriving and endurance in even the direst conditions.
