Youth Mental Health First-Aid Training

TFD will be hosting Youth Mental Health First-Aid Training in partnership with Community Outreach at Family Service & Mental Health Center of Cicero for community members. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), designed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among Youth. It is an all-day training, and participants will receive a certificate that is good for three years. Participants will have some pre-work on their own time before the training on MHFA Connect (website). This normally equals 1 to 2 hours of work. Then we would have the training in person on 9/26. At the end of the training, participants will complete some post-work (survey and exam) on MHFA Connect, and once they receive a passing grade, they will receive their certificate.

This training is ideal for:

  • Employers

  • Community workers

  • First responders

  • Teachers

  • Youth Advocates

Mentorship 2.0

Calling all Creative Entrepreneurs ages 18-24. We are excited to launch our first cohort for Mentorship 2.0, a 10-week, hybrid program on Thursdays from 6 PM to 8 PM (August 21st to October 23rd). Selected young adults will be paid a $20/hr stipend for their time. Young adults must be able to attend all dates and have earned income from your creative business.

Applications are due by: August 12th. Interviews will be conducts August 14 and 15th.

This engaging and informative class is designed to help young adults understand the basics of credit, how to build and maintain a healthy credit score, and why it’s important for their financial future. Topics include understanding credit reports, the impact of credit scores on loans and interest rates, how to use credit cards wisely, and tips for avoiding common financial pitfalls. By the end of the class, our young adults will feel empowered with the knowledge and tools needed to start building their credit with confidence!

She has been on a money-healing journey and is sharing her thoughts and wisdom. Jasmine will teach participants to reframe their thoughts about money in order to achieve “limitless dreaming”. Jasmine will also share how to use creative provision which is using resources around you and faith that one day you will receive what you wish for.

Before her high school graduation, Maya decided to put her college beliefs aside and make the commitment to go through college debt free. In this workshop, Maya will share her tips and tricks of what she has learned throughout college and what helped her graduate with her Associate’s and planned Bachelor’s for free.
