Join us as we share our goals and dreams about what it could look like to build our fundraising committee. During this time we will discuss what the fundraising committee is, expectations, and have space for Q&A.
We are excited for this next season of growth and hope you will join us September 25th at 6:30 PM for our first fundraising info session.
TFD will be hosting Youth Mental Health First-Aid Training in partnership with Community Outreach at Family Service & Mental Health Center of Cicero for community members. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), designed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among Youth. It is an all-day training, and participants will receive a certificate that is good for three years. Participants will have some pre-work on their own time before the training on MHFA Connect (website). This normally equals 1 to 2 hours of work. Then we would have the training in person on 9/26. At the end of the training, participants will complete some post-work (survey and exam) on MHFA Connect, and once they receive a passing grade, they will receive their certificate.

Calling all Creative Entrepreneurs ages 18-24. We are excited to launch our first cohort for Mentorship 2.0, a 10-week, hybrid program on Thursdays from 6 PM to 8 PM (August 21st to October 23rd). Selected young adults will be paid a $20/hr stipend for their time. Young adults must be able to attend all dates and have earned income from your creative business.
Applications are due by: August 12th. Interviews will be conducts August 14 and 15th.
Jasmine Lopez, is the Co-founder/Executive Director of TFD. She’s also an Accredited Financial Counselor® and has a passion for facilitating financial wellness workshops. She will share her inspiring story of overcoming bankruptcy to now living a joyful and abundant life. During this workshop you will learn how to:

This engaging and informative class is designed to help young adults understand the basics of credit, how to build and maintain a healthy credit score, and why it’s important for their financial future. Topics include understanding credit reports, the impact of credit scores on loans and interest rates, how to use credit cards wisely, and tips for avoiding common financial pitfalls. By the end of the class, our young adults will feel empowered with the knowledge and tools needed to start building their credit with confidence!

Join TFD’s Executive Director, Jasmine Lopez , and other youth community members for a virtual debt management workshop! Jasmine is passionate about creating healthy relationships with money. This workshop will focus on how to manage debt while also creating space for joy in life. By the end of this workshop, we hope individuals will improve their financial well-being to start building a secure future!

Jasmine Lopez is our Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Firehouse Dream, Founder of Authentic Adeventure, and most importantly, a community member. She has been on a money-healing journey and is sharing her thoughts and wisdom. Jasmine will teach participants to reframe their thoughts about money in order to achieve “limitless dreaming”. Jasmine will also share how to use creative provision which is using resources around you and faith that one day you will receive what you wish for.

Maya is one of our Spring 2021 mentees and current Executive Assistant. Before her high school graduation, Maya decided to put her college beliefs aside and make the commitment to go through college debt free. In this workshop, Maya will share her tips and tricks of what she has learned throughout college and what helped her graduate with her Associate’s and planned Bachelor’s for free.
