Mentorship 2.0 | Session 2

It was media day for our second in-person session for Mentorship 2.0. It consisted of our mentees highlighting their skill sets and partnership with the community, and collaborating with other mentees and small businesses. There were three setups: A studio setup with a backdrop, lighting, and additional props. A coffee cart featuring Gaby’s goal of having a mobile coffee shop. Lastly, a creative setup, where the photographers had freedom to place their models wherever they wanted them.

The photography team - Mya, Saffron, and Adlemy- rotated through each station, capturing content and experimenting with different looks. They worked closely with another mentee, Keilani, a digital artist developing an album cover concept, and Gaby with her coffee brand.

It was a day of shared ideas, various setups, and a space filled with creativity!

Mentorship 2.0 | Session 1

We kicked off our first in-person session of Mentorship 2.0! Our mentees, Adlemy, Mya, Gaby, Keilani, and Saffron learned about systems and workflows. There was brainstorming for what they wanted their projects to look like, what would be the first step, and how that would look to them. The mentees continued to plan what they wanted to do for media day for the following week. We also had each mentee work on poses and have their own headshots taken, along with group photos.

We are excited to see what unfolds next week and what visions come to life, and everyone showing up in their own creative way!

Photography at Quinn Center

As our fiscal year comes to a close this weekend, June 28th, we would love to share the photos the youth have taken at the Quinn Center. For two years now, we have partnered our youth interested in photography with the Quinn Center to take pictures at the event. This way, photographers gain more event photography experience all while working within their community. Our youth were at Quinn’s Christmas event, Turkey Giveaway, Senior celebrations, and more! Thank you to the Quinn Center for always considering our youth to capture meaningful events. Click through the gallery below for more pictures!

Fall Photography with the Quinn Center

We are excited to wrap up our photography fall partnership with the Quinn Center of Maywood. Our youth who had gone through our programming continued their photography skills by capturing events at the Quinn Center. We are so grateful for the continuous partnership and opportunity. This fall, some young adults took pictures for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. See more pictures below of the different events! Thanks to the Quinn Center and our photographers, Adlemy, Saffron, and Tracy!

Mya Rose | One Year Later

In the Summer of 2021, Mya Rose began her mentorship program here at TFD! Since the beginning, Mya has always had an interest in photography, which she began to take significant steps to learn during her mentorship. She is now part of the TFD team as a content creator and photographer! Mya plans to continue photography and to learn other skills within the creative field. We are so excited to see Mya’s next steps and watch her continue to grow!
