Our Painting Pots workshop, led by Yekseny, centered on reflecting on growth while painting pots. Yekseny talked about how spring is a reminder of growth and noticing change over time. Our community members painted terracotta pots as a personal expression of where they are in life. They used the process to reflect on accomplishments and goals for continued growth this year. Each potted plant was selected, connecting intention to a physical action, and group conversations allowed everyone to share the meaning behind their designs and choices. Overall, it created a grounding space for creativity, reflection, and community connection.
The Art Of Therapy | Dana Harris

This past Saturday, Dana from Paint on Purpose came back to TFD! Dana teaches art to people of all ages. She finds joy in guiding others through something so therapeutic. As we move through Mental Health Awareness Month, we have seen community members arrive excited to learn new things and find a moment of peace in their busy lives. A few members joined us on Saturday to relax with some smooth jazz music in the essential oil-filled air while painting. Dana guided them through painting beautiful cherry blossoms, which signify change in the seasons of our lives. Everyone enjoyed the peaceful environment and left with incredible artwork!
You can find more on the work Dana does on her website!

Painting With Seniors

Yesterday we partnered with the Quinn Center for their painting project for seniors. The mentees came to put their photography skills into practice, and we can’t wait to see the photos they captured! After the photos were taken, some of the mentees got to join in on the fun with some local seniors to paint some beautiful artwork, which was led by Dana from Paint On Purpose.
